LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking an individual to join our team as a Laboratory Resource Management Supervisor in Gainesville, FL. This position is responsible for providing logistics and communication support to LifeSouth Immunohematology Reference Laboratories (IRL) and hospitals. This position will also be responsible for overseeing pick-up and delivery of lab specimens, transportation of special antigen blood components to hospitals and providing customer service to hospitals. The position will also be responsible for special antigen units (SAU) inventory system-wide.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Directly supervise Laboratory Resource Management staff; coordinate the daily activities of the staff and department
- Manage communication and customer service between hospitals and LifeSouth concerning IRL related products and services
- Oversee movement of laboratory specimens in a timely manner
- Organize and coordinate timely transit of IRL blood components to hospitals ensuring accountability and responsiveness
- Coordinate with company IRL laboratories and help fulfill their SAU red blood cell (RBC) needs
- Coordinate the identification and acquisition of rare blood components within LifeSouth’s inventory and organize their transport to the IRL
- Manage and resolve complaints from hospitals concerning IRL logistics
- Serve as a point of contact for LifeSouth regions and respond to questions concerning laboratory logistics
- Travel to and communicate with hospitals and regional Hospital Services departments to troubleshoot issues with IRL logistics
- Coordinate exporting opportunities of blood platelets on the American Rare Donor Program (ARDP) and other outlets
- Prepare for internal and external audits
- Prepare and assemble reports, documents and other items as assigned to review trends and provide feedback
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree
- Administrative, quality assurance and computer experience
- Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
- Basic computer skills and experience with computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); position will be required to learn blood bank specific software, such as IBBIS, and LifeSouth’s vehicle tracking program
- Ability to interact professionally with all customers, both external and internal
- Ability to handle and complete multiple projects and assignments with precision and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
- Ability to anticipate what needs to be don’t to reach goals and work to achieve those goals
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- Previous blood banking experience
- Previous supervisory experience
This position is expected to be continuously on-call to fulfill the needs and obligations of the department.
This is a full-time position. Starting salary range is $19.25 - $21.15 an hour. All offers of employment with LifeSouth are contingent upon applicants passing a pre-employment drug screen and/or physical examination and background check.
